Media Registration

Qualifications

Qualifications of all media outlets will be determined by the E3 2020 media registration staff.

Employees of media outlets who do not work in an editorial capacity will not qualify for a media badge including: Art Directors, Graphic Designers, Public Relations Personnel, Publishers, Managers, Social Media Managers, District Managers, Marketing Representatives, Sales Representatives, and Senior Level Managerial staff.

Working journalists 17 years of age or older that fall under one of the below categories may register for a media badge:

Freelance Journalists

Freelance writers from unqualified media outlets will not be admitted. In order to qualify as media, we require that you provide ALL of the following:
  • A letter from a publisher, editor, or producer (on their letterhead) stating that you are covering E3 2020 on assignment
  • A bylined interactive entertainment industry-related article from your publication (above) written by you and published within the past three months (the copy must clearly show the name of the publication and your byline)

Please Note: No one under 17 will be admitted. All E3 attendees will be required to show government issued photo I.D. (i.e. driver’s license or passport) in order to pick up their 2020 E3 Badge and Badge Holder. The name on your ID and the name on your badge must be the same.

 

Broadcast Journalists and Photographers

Each member of a broadcast crew must register separately. To qualify as media, please provide ALL of the following:

  • A copy of your business card with name, editorial title, and media outlet’s logo
  • A letter from a producer/editor (on company letterhead) stating that you are covering E3 2020 on assignment
  • If possible, the E3 Media Team (who reviews all applications) encourages all applicants to submit links to segments they’ve hosted that are available online

Please Note: No one under 17 will be admitted. All E3 attendees will be required to show government issued photo I.D. (i.e. driver’s license or passport) in order to pick up their 2020 E3 Badge and Badge Holder. The name on your ID and the name on your badge must be the same.

Online Media (News Websites)

Online outlets must be previously established (fully launched and operational for at least six months) and updated regularly with original and current interactive entertainment industry news. To qualify as online media, please provide ALL of the following:

  • A copy of your business card with name, editorial title, and media outlet’s logo, AND
  • URLs to your articles with your name and title appearing in an editorial capacity.  Your articles must have been published within the past three months

Please Note: No one under 17 will be admitted. All E3 attendees will be required to show government issued photo I.D. (i.e. driver’s license or passport) in order to pick up their 2020 E3 Badge and Badge Holder. The name on your ID and the name on your badge must be the same.

* Note: All online outlets must meet minimum site traffic and rank requirements that vary from year to year. The E3 Media team will use the measurement site SimilarWebPRO to evaluate each site’s traffic and rank. The E3 Media team cannot accept first party analytics.

Social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) will not be considered as eligible online media.

Industry and Financial Analysts

Please provide ALL of the following:

  • A copy of your business card with name, title, and company logo
  • A recent report or bulletin on interactive entertainment with your byline written within the past three months

Please Note: No one under 17 will be admitted. All E3 attendees will be required to show government issued photo I.D. (i.e. driver’s license or passport) in order to pick up their 2020 E3 Badge and Badge Holder. The name on your ID and the name on your badge must be the same.

YouTube / Twitch / Facebook Gaming / Mixer Channels

Please provide ALL of the following:

  • A copy of your business card with name, title, and company logo
  • Links to your channel/videos with your face clearly present. If you are a producer, director, or part of the production team, please provide a link where you are credited within the video or on the channel page

Please Note: No one under 17 will be admitted. All E3 attendees will be required to show government issued photo I.D. (i.e. driver’s license or passport) in order to pick up their 2020 E3 Badge and Badge Holder. The name on your ID and the name on your badge must be the same. Please do NOT upload any government I.D.s.

*Note: YouTube, Twitch, Facebook Gaming, and Mixer channels must meet minimum follower and video view count requirements that vary from year to year. E3 Media team will also evaluate channels based on content produced, which should include original and current (within the past three months) interactive entertainment industry news (tips, cheats, and walkthroughs are acceptable).

Production Companies

Please provide ALL of the following

  • A copy of your business card with name, title, and company logo
  • A letter (on company letterhead) from an editor/producer at a broadcast or editorial outlet stating that your company has been hired to cover E3 2020 on assignment and where coverage will appear
  • Links to three pieces of work you have previously produced

Please Note: No one under 17 will be admitted. All E3 attendees will be required to show government issued photo I.D. (i.e. driver’s license or passport) in order to pick up their 2020 E3 Badge and Badge Holder. The name on your ID and the name on your badge must be the same.

Note: Production companies MUST be hired by a broadcast or editorial outlet in order to be issued E3 2020 media badges. The E3 Media team will not issue badges to companies who have not been hired by a broadcast or editorial outlet.

Podcasts

Please provide ALL of the following:

  • A copy of your business card with name, title, and company logo
  • A letter from a producer/editor (on company letterhead) with contact information stating that you are covering E3 2020 on assignment.  If you are a producer, or part of the production team, please provide a link where you are credited.
  • Links to your podcast on Apple Podcast, YouTube, Spotify, Pocket Casts and/or Stitcher

What upgrades have been made to the Media Badge Registration Process?

We take the cybersecurity and privacy of our guests very seriously. We have rebuilt the E3 website with enhanced and layered security measures developed In consultation with an outside cybersecurity firm. In addition, our registration practices have been enhanced, allowing us to collect the minimum information necessary to complete your registration.  And while restricted areas of the website will contain additional access controls, personal data will not be stored on the site.
