The ESA and the IGDA partner to offer more opportunities for indie developers to participate in E3 2021 and beyond

LOS ANGELES — May 18, 2021 — E3 2021 continues to expand its opportunities for publishers and developers around the world, as the ESA announces its partnership with the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) that will elevate indie developers and provide a new opportunity for all IGDA members to showcase their work at E3 2021 and beyond.

“The IGDA is thrilled to partner with the ESA to uplift indies during this year’s E3 and beyond,” said Renee Gittins, Executive Director of the IGDA. “Indies provide heartfelt stories and groundbreaking creativity that lead progress of our industry. It is an honor to help indies onto this grand stage for the first time so they can share their efforts and inspiration worldwide.”

“We are reimagining E3 in a variety of ways, and part of that is engaging with indie developers by offering opportunities to help highlight them and their work on a global stage,” said Stanley Pierre-Louis, President & CEO of the ESA. “Indie developers are a critical part of the video game industry, and we’re thrilled to expand our offerings to create opportunities to showcase their work worldwide.”

Through the partnership, the IGDA will offer its members special packages and opportunities to be included in E3 2021, with the goal of expanding those opportunities into 2022 and beyond.

The IGDA is the world’s largest nonprofit membership organization serving all individuals who create games, supporting and empowering game developers around the world in achieving fulfilling and sustainable careers. The IGDA is a 501(c)6 non-profit professional association focused on all fields of game development, bringing together developers in over 150 Chapters and Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to improve their lives and their craft.

E3 2021 will feature a four-day long broadcast filled with press conferences, exciting reveals, special guest appearances and announcements, taking place Saturday, June 12 through Tuesday, June 15. In addition, there will be an E3 portal and supporting app, which will allow participating exhibitors to create and host their own virtual “booths,” offering additional ways for indie developers to engage with media, industry professionals and fans around the world.
